This device has 8 local inputs
(one of the four ribbon cable connectors), 24 outputs (three of the
ribbon cable connectors), as well as two LocoNet communication jacks.
Inputs can be used for local turnout control buttons, block occupancy
detectors, and turnout position feedback.
It's outputs can control LEDs and low-current bulbs for signals, block
occupancy, switch position, etc.; operate a Tortoise
so that it can control turnouts, grade crossing gates and Tomar's
semaphore and train control
board controller; control grade crossing bell sound unit.
Through LocoNet it can it can receive block occupancy messages, signal
messages, and turnout commands for signal logic and other operations.
It can also send switch commands, turnout position feedback, block
occupancy messages, and even signal messages to control Digitrax's
SE8C without needing a computer.
This board is so versatile, it can do any mix of these things so long
as it doesn't exceed the limitation of its 8 inputs and 24 outputs.
Then, even if it does exceed those limits, just add another SIC24
to continue. And since all communication (except inputs and outputs)
is done via LocoNet, wiring is at a minimum.
The SIC24 can control up to 24 signal lights, meaning that it can
do eight 3-aspect signal heads. If doing 2-aspect signals, it can
do 12 signal heads. If doing PRR signaling, one board can do 3 signal
heads with 3 outputs left over - you get the idea.
NOTE: Some complex signaling could take the logic of two or more outputs
for one light. This means that the number of useable outputs for lighting
lights is reduced.
In addition to signals, its outputs can indicate block occupancy or
turnout position, and do crossing gate signals. It can even drive
a Tortoise machine, which allows it to control turnouts, grade crossing
gates, and Tomar's train order board and semaphore controller - including
the middle (yellow) aspect.
While it uses block detection information from BDL162s or BDL168s
via LocoNet, it can also use local Block Detection input from any
block detector with open-collector outputs. |
Because the SIC24 is so versatile,
with so many new features and concepts, we produce supplemental documentation
and a laminated reference sheet for our SIC24 customers - free on
request with your order, limit 1 free set per customer. If you previously
purchased your SIC24 from Loy's Toys, but did not get the documentation
and/or laminated reference sheet, ask for it with your next order.
If you purchased your SIC24 from another dealer, and need more information
about it, you can purchase this information for $10 ($5.00 for the
documentation, $5.00 for the laminated reference sheet) plus $3.50
shipping & handling. |
