These are sound-only decoders. They do not have provision to run the motor or control the lights. Once installed, the DSX provides sound effects for engine startup and shutdown, eight engine speed notches, and various background sounds. For Digital Command Control (DCC) only. The sounds
provided by these sound units are digital playback of recordings from
real locos, but they are not just simple playback loops. They are
interactive and will respond to you, the engineer, just like a real
loco. The air horn reacts directly to your control of the horn button,
being able to play the grade crossing tune, for example. |
