Include a freight car with one of
these track cleaning blocks at the head of each consist, and your mainlines
will require much less hand cleaning. These 1.25" x 3" Masonite
blocks are designed to be dragged on the track from under a freight
car. The ends are rounded on the bottom to eliminate catching and bucking
at track joints and turnouts.
While these track cleaners are not
perfect, they work as well, or better than most other track cleaners
costing as much as 20 to 25 times more. Assembly involves applying a
ring of glue around the underside of the two pin heads, and inserting
the pins into the holes for them in the Masonite block.
Installation, after the glue dries,
only requires the drilling of two 3/16" holes on the bottom side
of the selected freight car, and inserting the block's pins into them.
Any 50' freight car (such as a box car) that is somewhat flat on the
bottom side, and has enough body height to accommodate the pins sticking
up into it, can be used.
These blocks work, and they're cheap.
So order enough to have one on every freight train that leaves the yard. |
