This device rectifies and
filters the power from an AC power supply to provide filtered DC power
to the booster. In doing so it increases the voltage by about 40%
- increased voltage needed by the booster when providing DC power
instead of AC.
Some large layouts can have a problem with cross-talk between track
power and LocoNet if LocoNet is not installed properly, or when using
some products that connect to both the track power and LocoNet.If
you have this problem, cross-talk will be noticed as slow LocoNet
response when controlling trains.
If you have this problem, first check
LocoNet to be sure you don't have wires running close to, and parallel
with, the track power bus for more than 15 feet. Also, twist the LocoNet
cable about two turns per foot. If all is well in this regard, this
filter can be added to try to eliminate the rest of the problem.
NOTE: There is no need to use this
filter unless you are having this problem. It is easily added between
the power supply and booster at a later date if needed. |
