This coupler was designed for modelers desiring a more prototypically sized coupler, yet have the same simple drop-in design as the venerable #5. It is identical to the #5 in length, material, shank position, and draft gear. However, the head and knuckle on this coupler are closer to scale size (smaller). Even so, it will couple with all other Kadee and Kadee- compatible couplers, allowing you to start using #58 couplers without having to change all your other couplers.
