Except for some differences
in the headlight casing, the E8 and E9 were identical externally.
The EMD E8 had 2,250 horse power, the E9 had 2,400 horse power. There
were 489 E8s built from 1949 to 1953, and 132 E9s built from 1954
to 1964. |

These
Life-Like models do not come DCC ready. But, depending on whether
or not the model has the Life-Like Mars light simulation, it can be
a very easy hard-wire installation. |

| Decoder Selection |
|
Literally any hard-wire decoder
that can handle a 1.1-amp stall current motor will work in this loco.
We have several different wired decoders that can provide enough current
for this loco, but we're only going to list the ones with the JST
connector. Since this decoder has to be hard-wired in, it doesn't
make sense to install a decoder that doesn't have this connector.
