This
loco does not come DCC Ready,
but it's a fairly easy installation as far as hard-wire installations
go. Power pickup on both sides runs directly to the motor. Clip the
motor loose from power pickup, and you have your four connections
for power pickup and motor. Light wiring is normal, with one 680-ohm
resistor for each. |

| Decoder Selection |
|
Literally any wired decoder will
work with this loco. However, because it's a hard-wire installation,
we recommend using a decoder that has the JST-connected
harness. All decoders listed below have the JST connector, so if you
want to use one that doesn't have that connector you'll have to order
it from our regular decoder page.. For more about these decoders,
refer to the Decoder section. |

| Sound Equipment Selection |
|
There is
no sound unit made specifically for this loco, so you'll have to choose
from what's available. Literally any Throttle Up! sound unit will
fit, although one of the micros fits much easier, so it's a matter
of what sound you want to listen to. The speaker does not come with either of the sound units so you'll have to order them separately. While the 0.56" wide oval is an easy installation, the 0.63" wide oval will also fit without trouble. There's plenty of room for an enclosure for either one. Since round speakers don't provide as good a quality of sound as these ovals, they are not listed below. If you want a round speaker, you'll have to order it from our regular speaker page. |
