The NMRA has designated several
CVs for manufacturers to use as they please. Originally, these CVs included
49 through 64. These are still Manufacturer-Unique, but now there is
also a range of them above 100.
Some manufacturers don't use these
at all. Others use a great many of them. Most manufacturers use different
ones differently. There is no set usage or pattern. It's solely up to
the manufacturer as to what each one is used for and how it will be
used.
For example, Digitrax uses CVs 49
through 54 for special FX Lighting effects,
and Throttle Up! uses CVs 56 through 61 for sound control on their
DSD-150 and DSX diesel locos. Further, some manufacturers will use one
CV for one thing on one type of decoder, and use the same CV for yet
another thing on a different decoder. This is most evident in the difference
between Throttle Up! Diesel and Steam sound decoders.
You have to refer to the manufacturer's
documentation for the decoder in question for full information about
these CVs.
Manufacturers-Unique CVs reside in
CV 49 and up, so you'll need a system or other method to program those
CVs with any number of values.
All of Digitrax's current systems can
program any value into these CVs.
Manufacturer-Unique CVs are not intrusive.
You do not need to bother with them unless you want to use them. |
