| The RX4 has four transponding
receivers that connect to the BDL162 or
BDL168 block detector. Each receiver has
a toroid coil that the track power wires for the detected block must
go through. The receiver gathers information about which loco (with
transponder) is in the block it is connected to, so it can report
this information via LocoNet when asked for it.
The original design of the BDL162
was to allow two RX4 Transponding receivers to be connected. However,
technical problems limited the BDL162 to only four receivers (one
RX4). It's successor, the BDL168, does allow
you to connect two RX4s. For more information about Transponding,
refer to Transponding in the
DCC Topics section. |
