| The MS100
interfaces your Windows-compatible PC to your Digitrax LocoNet system.
The MS100 does not come with software but programs such as WinLok
may be used to control trains, program decoders, and other things
via the MS100.
The MS100 is a small interface board
mounted in a DB-25 cable connector. If you've looked at the PR1, you'll
think it's the same thing - it is not. While the PR1 and MS100 have
the same housing, the PC boards inside are different for the different
task each one does.
Connect the MS100 to your PC by
plugging it onto an available DB-25 serial port. Connect the MS100
to your LocoNet via a LocoNet cable (provided). Some computers have
internal modems or the mouse connected to a serial port that also
goes out the back. Connecting to a communications port of this type
will not work - it must be a communications port that is not used
by anything else. If your computer has a DB-25 serial port available
for use, nothing more is needed (except software, of course) to make
it work.
If your computer only has a DB9
serial port available, you'll also need a DB9-to-DB25 adapter. Refer
to the DB9/DB25
Adapter page for more information. |
