| This is a single reverse
section controller. It can, however, be used to control multiple reverse
sections as long as only one of the reverse sections is used at a
time.
Hookup is very easy - 2 wires
to track power, 2 wires to the reverse section. Of course, if your
reverse section is more than about 3 feet long, you should have track
feeders to each end of the reverse section. And if it's more than
about 10 feet long, it should have track feeders about every 6 feet.
The AR1 can be adjusted for
trip current. This allows it to be used with N scale as well as G
scale.
The AR1 uses short circuit detection to know when the polarity needs
to be switched. This means that the reverse section needs to be longer
than the longest lighted passenger car, including lighted cabooses,
or any other car with power pickup.
Since the AR1 draws track
power for its operating current, it CANNOT be used within a detected
block. To use it with a BDL168, for example, it must be placed upstream
from one of the BDL168's zone of 8 blocks. This means that only the
reverse section can be powered by that zone, and that reverse section
cannot be part of another block (it must be a detected block all on
its own). |
